Respect-Transparency-Evidence -Accountability-Fiscal Responsibility-One Municipality
The new council should adopt several operating principles immediately:
Respect — Transparency — Evidence — Accountability — Fiscal Responsibility — One Municipality
Visible changes in how residents interact with their municipality needs to be implemented using an extremely basic statement:
“Residents should never have to wonder what happened to their concern.”
Councillors represent wards, but collectively govern the entire RM.
Major decisions should therefore answer five questions:
What problem are we solving?
What evidence supports our decision?
What alternatives were considered? And what are the risks and benefits of the decision?
What will it cost taxpayers over its entire lifecycle?
How will we measure whether it worked?
This needs to be communicated to residents on a regular basis
