Change the Culture of Council
The adoption of several operating principles at once that include, Respect — Transparency — Evidence — Accountability — Fiscal Responsibility — One Municipality. Guided by the statement “We will keep what works, fix what doesn’t, measure our results and make decisions openly.” and report back to residents promptly.
My plan is to turn this into a measurable resident-based service system. Emergency requests or those considered high priority by residents would be prioritized for immediate attention. For regular concerns, the process would be straight forward and tracked:
*Day 1: immediate acknowledgement with assigned tracking number.
*Within 5 business days: staff assessment and report back with, who is responsible for responding to the concern and who will be following up.
*Within 7-10 business days: response to resident with action plan
*After completion: resident notification and follow up from residents to evaluate our response.
I would like to Create a public dashboard tracking system with tracking number that allows us to present a monthly report card with information on who took the concern from Mayor, Councillor, or administrative staff.
service requests received;
requests outstanding;
average response time;
road complaints;
drainage complaints;
bylaw concerns;
planning inquiries;
completed projects;
capital project status;
Outcome of the request showing why or why not it is completed.
Individual residents’ information would remain confidential.
