Public Safety

Order a comprehensive review of current public safety measures, fire protection and emergency preparedness to develop a plan with those responsible for providing those services. Develop measurable emergency-service standards and identify areas where we are facing challenges and areas where growth is occurring faster than emergency infrastructure. Develop and implement a long-term plan for our protective services using the input from those providing those services and residents concerns.

 Ensure fire department coverage; response times; equipment replacement needs; water access; mutual aid; emergency management; flooding; wildfire preparedness; evacuation routes; and emergency communications are proper for each region.

Rapid development can gradually create service gaps that must be addressed with those who understand the concerns and are providing the services.

Council should work closely with providers to set up measurable emergency-service standards.
